22 May 2008 - Broadgate Newsletter - Mid-term 2008
Dear Parents,
Ofsted 2008
Please follow this link for a copy of our excellent Ofsted Report. The children, staff and Governors are absolutely delighted with the outcomes of our Inspection, which reflects most accurately what a happy and successful school we have.
The Inspectors were most impressed by Broadgate, and could find little that we need to do to improve further. It should be noted also, that our Y1 teacher, Lisa Dyer, was actually in hospital during Inspection Week, and therefore some comments directed towards the year group she teaches are not strictly correct.
To celebrate, and reward the children for their efforts throughout the year, we have arranged a party, which will take place on Friday afternoon. Ice creams and drinks will be provided, and everyone will enjoy an afternoon of fun and games on our school field. As a special treat, the children will not be expected to wear their uniforms on Friday. Casual clothes suitable for energetic physical activities may be worn in school all day.
Very well done everyone!
Staffing news
I know everyone will be saddened to learn that at the end of this term, Mrs Camille Wilkinson will be leaving us for pastures new. Camille has worked at Broadgate for 15 years, at first as a Teaching Assistant and Special Needs Assistant in several classes, including Reception, Y1, Y5 and Y6, and later as our Nursery Nurse. She was promoted to the post of Nursery Manager 5 years ago, and on two occasions since then Ofsted Inspectors have recognised her exceptional talent. She will be really missed by everyone at Broadgate!
Replacing Mrs Wilkinson as our Nursery teacher and Foundation Stage Manager will be Miss Sam Thompson, who many of you will know through your association with our Reception class. We are delighted to have appointed Sam and I know she is really looking forward to the challenges ahead.
A new member of staff, Miss Emma Baxter, will join us as our Reception teacher in September. Emma will be visiting school throughout June, so please introduce yourself and get to know her.
Driving onto school property
May I remind you that NO parents may bring their cars down the school drive between the hours of 8.40 am and 9.10 am, and 2.50 pm and 3.20 pm. This rule is in place to protect your children during these very busy times in school. Any parent who does not abide by this simple rule will in future be named and shamed by having his or her name and car registration number posted in the school notice board at the top of the drive.
You have no excuse to drive onto school property at these times and we believe that all reasonable parents will support this action!
Yours sincerely,
Alan Tootill
